Our psychologist Simona Palladino has returned, after one year of absence, to Mar Elias camp to support and provide new ideas to the teachers, in order to address the delicate relationship with the parents of their pupils.
In the coming weeks Simona will be in the Palestinian refugee camps of Mar Elias, Burj El Barajneh and Rashidieh to present to the teachers the second part of the training course in “shared responsibility in education” included in the activities of the project ” Strengthening of social and educational services for minors in Palestinian refugees camps of Mar Elias, Burj El Barajneh and Rashidieh in Lebanon “.
Through direct observation of the classes, training sessions and supervisions during meetings with the parents, Simona will work closely with the teachers to find new and different methods and means of connection that facilitate communication with parents.
This course aims to make the moms and dads feel supported in the education of their children and welcomed when they feel in doubt or in difficulty and to make the teachers feel more comfortable in handling any kind of issue with the parents of their students.
This year a new tool entitled “Family Album” will be introduced: moms, dads and teachers will observe together a few images of children representing different degrees of autonomy in various areas of development, and together they will choose which image best describes the child. The child will be observed in his complexity, the teacher and the parents will discuss his resources and his limits through neutral and harmless images. The purpose of this activity is that at the end of the meeting, parents and teachers will form a general, diversified and complex impression of the child rather than giving him a positive or a negative label.
This new diversified image will point the way to help the child through his different development stages.
