On June 15th and 16th the National Day of Social Agriculture took place at the Tenuta della Mistica in Rome.

CTM and its Lebanese partner Oum el Nour attended the event as guests of honor for the day of June 16th. The President of Oum el Nour, Mgr. Njem attended the round table presentation of the initiative while the Vice President, Gabriel Dabbené and the Director Mireille Nasser-Khoury participated in the thematic focus organized by dall’Associazione Sviluppo e Solidarietà, our partner in Lebanon of this project. Six educators from Oum el Nour, in Italy for a week training session, also participated to the event.

Thanks to the intervention of CTM and its partner AseS-CIA, Oum el Nour is an active member of the Italian network of Social Agriculture initiatives that adheres to the wider European-Mediterranean network

The project in Lebanon aims to increase the capacity of the partner Oum el Nour and its educational staff to provide a rehabilitation opportunity for youngsters who want to escape the deleterious drug circle. After completing the first year realizing all the planned activities, we will continue the implementation of the social farms in the two centres managed by Oum el Nour in Sehaile and Fatqa. In particular, greenhouses will be installed for the production of aromatic plants and the breeding activities will be rationalized, finalizing it to the production of goat’s cheese, eggs and honey.
